Backend engineer · Distributed systems

I build backend systems that hold up when things break.

Go, gRPC and event-driven architecture, with the idempotency and crash-safety work that makes those words mean something in production.

  • 8 Go microservices on gRPC. Kafka and Redis pub/sub power live WebSocket messages.
  • Deployed on GKE with Helm behind a Cloudflare Tunnel, monitored with Prometheus, Grafana and Loki.
  • Load tested with k6 on one e2-standard-2 node (2 vCPU, 8 GB) in asia-south1, Mumbai.
  • p95 delivery 61 ms at 25 users, 181 to 299 ms at 200. Node CPU saturated at 275 to 300 users.

  • Built solo in 12 hours. A Go backend that places ad breaks in Bengali drama only at speech-free points.
  • Safety rules are enforced in code, not by the AI model. It rejected 109 mid-dialogue cuts across 6 episodes.
  • Deployed on Google Cloud Run with CI in GitHub Actions (40 tests). All 6 episodes cost about $1 to analyse.

  • Payment recovery agent as 9 Go microservices on Kafka and gRPC. Beat naive retries by 26% on 44% less spend.
  • Exactly-once payment actions under at-least-once delivery, using Postgres idempotency keys.
  • Fixed a Kafka offset-commit race with a single committer goroutine, verified 20/20 under concurrency.

About

Aranya Dutta

I'm a final-year CS student at KIIT. Most of what I enjoy sits below the UI: message buses, failure modes, and the unglamorous work of making a system behave correctly when a machine dies mid-batch.

I'm also studying Japanese, aiming to work in Japan. JLPT N5 passed in December 2025, preparing for N3.
